Anointing of the Sick

“By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them” (Lumen Gentium, XI). At St. Francis of Assisi we celebrate the Sacrament of the Sick in a communal setting each year during Advent, a time of hope-filled waiting. For those who are struggling with physical, emotional or mental illness, Advent is an opportune time to reach out to the Lord for strength and healing. The date and time of the celebration will be announced at the start of the season of Advent.

Members of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi who are in need of the sacrament of the anointing of the sick should call 212-736-8500 to make arrangements for a priest to come to you at home or in the hospital.
