Immigration Center
The St. Francis Immigration Center, founded on October 12, 1999 by Father Brian J. Jordan, O.F.M., is a resource and referral Center for newly-arrived immigrants and refugees. Its primary goal is to fulfill the mission statement of Holy Name Province by reaching out to the “poor, the immigrant and the alienated.”
The Immigration Center is available only by appointment, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Please call 212-736-8500, Ext. 302 to schedule an appointment. All services listed below are free and confidential.
• Supplies direct assistance by helping immigrants to carefully fill out INS and Social Security Forms.
• Provides Counseling to the immigrant with all types of immigration cases. The Center provides workshops to educate immigrants about current immigration law and policy. Referrals to attorneys and translators are done whenever necessary for the protection of the immigrant.
• Advocates for better services on a twofold basis. First it advocates for better services for immigrants by government and the private sector on local and state levels. Second, it speaks for immigrants who have been the victims of scams and extortion rings.
The Franciscan Immigration Center relies on grants and donations. All monetary donations are tax-deductible. Your contribution is greatly appreciated to maintain these outstanding services to the people of the metropolitan NYC area. Checks can be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Immigration Center.
