Liturgical Ministers

Lectors

The lector serves a unique role in the liturgy. These individuals proclaim the first and second
readings and by offering the prayers of general intercession. This ministry is a storyteller of
the community and they must have the special gift of public speaking. Lectors must be able
to provide good diction, pronunciation and projection. These ministers are the storytellers of
our community and must be able to deliver all the nuances of each reading. St. Francis of Assisi
Church provides training to become familiar with this liturgical service.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers, along with the priest and/or deacon, minister the Body and Blood of
Christ to the assembly during the Communion Rite of the Liturgy. Our mission is to welcome,
worship and witness and by ministering and partaking in the Eucharist we become one with our
God and one another. We are called to live the Eucharist. St. Francis of Assisi Church provides
training to become familiar with this liturgical service.

Hospitality Ministers

St. Francis of Assisi Church is well known for its good liturgy, excellent preaching and vibrant
music. We also pride ourselves in making people feel welcome and part of our community.
Our Ministers of Hospitality are our ‘front line people’ who either ‘make or break’ the initial
meeting with people. Our philosophy is that ‘All Are Welcome’ and our Hospitality Ministers
are people who extend a warm and genuine greeting to all who pass through our doors. If you
have the gift of welcoming others and the spirit of inclusion please contact us. St. Francis of
Assisi Church provides training to become familiar with this liturgical service.

Altar Server

Altar Servers have been a very ancient tradition in the liturgical life of the church. Altar servers
are asked to commit their time and talent to this parish community with much reverence and
respect. They should be able to understand the Eucharistic celebration and other sacred rites.
At St. Francis of Assisi Church, this position has been filled by adults only. St. Francis of Assisi
Church provides training to become familiar with this liturgical service.
