In the sacrament of Matrimony a man and a woman publicly affirm their love for each other in the covenant and bond of marriage. The sacrament of Matrimony signifies the union of Christ and the Church; therefore, it is not just a private celebration but one which involves the whole community of faith. We welcome members of the St. Francis of Assisi parish community to celebrate their wedding with us.

Preparations for the celebration of the sacrament of marriage in the Catholic Church should start at least 6 months prior to your wedding, whether you are getting married here at St. Francis of Assisi, or you are preparing at St. Francis for a ceremony held elsewhere.

We have guidelines to help you make the necessary arrangements which can be viewed here.  This pdf booklet is also available as an html page here.

Please also see the Archdiocese of New York’s information on marriage and marriage preparation here.

For more information or to inquire about scheduling a wedding at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi please call Edward Trochimczuk at 212-736-8500 x361.
