Summer 2010
Dear Parishioners and
Friends of St. Francis:
As we begin this glorious
summer season, it seems to
be the right time to offer a
few words of thanks to all
of you for the time, talent,
support and love that you
generously share with us
throughout the year.
First, I would like to thank our Friars, Pastoral
Leadership Team, and the
entire pastoral staff for
their competency, energy and
hard work as they minister
to us through worship,
preaching, music,
reconciliation and
hospitality! You are the
BEST. In particular, I wish
to congratulate our
wonderful Pastoral
Leadership Team for
participating in a year-long
pastoral planning process
which we completed a few
weeks ago. You can read the
plan in full by clicking
here.
One very specific and
tangible outcome of our
strategic planning is
the beautiful and more
informative weekly
bulletin. You will also
notice in the plan three
specific priorities that
have been identified as
areas of growth and
development. In the Fall
we will be asking your
help and assistance in
their implementation.
I would also like to
recognize and thank Linda
Bethel and Helen Thornton
who have served for the past
three years as our parish
trustees. I deeply
appreciate their
overwhelming kindness, sage
advice and loyal support.
Upon my recommendation,
Archbishop Dolan has
appointed Julie Jamita and
Daniel Von Herzen as our new
trustees effective June 1,
2010. I thank them for
accepting this important
responsibility in our
parish. I will welcome their
wise comments on significant
issues and future directions
and financial matters.
Last but not least, I would
like to thank all of you,
our dear parishioners and
friends who minister,
worship, pray and share your
faith, hopes, joys, sorrows
and pains with us here. Our
Church is beautiful but it
wouldn’t amount to anything
if it was not filled with
your wonderful presence.
Along with the friars and
the entire pastoral staff,
you make St. Francis of
Assisi the most beloved
church in New York City.
Sincerely,

Jerome J. Massimino, O.F.M.
Pastor and Guardian
